how to thrift like a pro + my january thrift finds

one thing that you’ll come to learn about me is that i absolutely love thrifting! as someone who is constantly looking for ‘timeless pieces,’ (i categorize this as pieces that will last for years, and that you simply cannot leave the store without,) thrifting allows for me to add new items to my wardrobe collection for the low, and the best part is that the possibilities are endless.

if you’re unsure of where to start when it comes to thrifting- i’ve got the hookup for you on best practices for thrifting, and what i finds i came across this month.

location is important- but not everything

it’s common to assume that thrift stores in ‘nicer,’ places will have a better selection of items, but that is not always the case. when getting started, always shop around in different areas and see how your experience is. there are so many hidden gems, and many more thrift stores out there than you think. if you really love one, make sure to leave a review for them!

know before you go

make a list of what you’re looking for, and what your budget will be before heading out. since thrift items are highly discounted versus a regular shopping trip, it’s easy to buy more than what you actually need. having this list and budget in mind will allow your trip to flow much smoother, and keep your coins in check

stay on top of restocks & sales

thrift store employees should be your besties! don’t be afraid to ask them when they typically restock, so that you can stay on top of the deals and the latest items. be sure to ask about the sales going on as well. a lot of thrift stores will have special deals on various days of the week, so definitely use those days to your advantage

my january thrift finds

jofeld winter coat

can we just take a moment please? i simply could not resist this vibrant winter coat. the eye catching padded shoulder details make it even more of a statement piece, and the bronze buttons give the coat a very vintage look. i was able to snag this coat for $16 from my local cincinnati goodwill, and i am looking forward to styling this for years to come

ralph lauren x chaps trench coat

i am loving everything about this coat! it features a removable lining which makes this coat lightweight and perfect for both the fall/winter, and spring. the real tea is that this is actually a men’s coat, but we love a good restyling! this coat was also snagged from goodwill at the $16 price point.

i’m telling y’all, thrifting is where it’s at! stay tuned for next months thrift finds, and until then-

happy thrifting!
